Big Mother Saves Us

Well, no sooner than I gripe about the creek being blocked, and I find that the "solution" has arrived. Maybe people can put planks over The Passage, too.

Makes me think that maybe the Maine Appalachian Trail Club has the right idea; having a bridge anywhere is just the start of a slippery slope.

Well, I guess the bridge did make it easier to take this photo:

Friday Cat On Vent Blogging

This photo is from the second-to-last snow (early March) of the just-ended winter. When I was growing up, most people who had central HVAC had at least a few vents in their floor (although my house had all of them in the walls). Most cats learned at an early age that these vents were great places to be in the winter.

Our cats, being Texas cats, and having lived on a slab (eeeevil) had learned the lesson that the floor was pretty much the last place a cat wanted to be in the winter. It took all of last spring and most of this winter before one of thw two cats figured out this vent thing.

Big Mother Knows Best

This sign as been in place at Red Clay over the last few months. As of a month ago it was still there. I keep hoping that it will be gone the next time I go, only to be disappointed.

Noisemakers

A confession: Jetskis really bug me. If I were dictator, I'd restrict them to a few small areas on some lakes. Ignoring the water pollution problems (which do still exist), the real problem is that jetskis seem to turn some people into complete idiots. If I were on a motorcycle and started zooming around on a sidewalk, people would think I was crazy (or in Europe). But you see people on jetskis zooming around too close to shore and swimmers all the time.

Oh, and: Get Off My Lawn You Kids!
